The Arloa Foundation is a non-profit organization, currently applying for 501c3 status (EIN 92-1051382), and is dedicated to supporting special education teachers in Los Angeles County and Orange County, California. It was founded by Brett and Brooke Moore in memory of their mother, Arloa Moore, who was a special education teacher in Orange County for thirty years and passed away in 2021.
Special education teachers are pillars of our community that are underappreciated and under supported. As children, Brett and Brooke Moore were first hand witnesses to their mother's selfless passion that improved the lives of her students in countless ways. Notwithstanding her dedication, Arloa's family often struggled financially and a little extra money would have made a huge difference in their lives. The Arloa Foundation's mission is to provide a no-strings-attached monetary award to special education teachers to enrich their and their family's life.
The Arloa Foundation provides two awards annually, in the fall/winter and in the spring/summer, to special education teachers in Los Angeles County and Orange County. Applications are submitted by parents, educators, students, colleagues, families, or administrators on behalf of special education teachers who they want to recognize for their dedication. The Arloa Foundation has provided a list of questions to help support applications, as well as deadlines and other information for the two annual awards, which can be found in the "Applications" page on our website.
